DPTW - NHAFN
Nepal sits at the crossroads of seismic, climatic, and humanitarian risk, making disaster preparedness not a luxury but a necessity. NHAFN's Disaster Preparedness & Trauma Wing focuses on the before, during, and after of disasters, building community resilience before crisis strikes, providing trauma-informed care during emergencies, and supporting psychological and physical recovery long after headlines fade. Where the Emergency Response Wing deploys fast, DPTW builds deep.
Distinction from Emergency Response Wing While ERW is NHAFN's rapid-deployment force activated during emergencies, DPTW operates across the full disaster cycle:
| ERW | DPTW | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Rapid response | Preparedness + recovery |
| When | During emergency | Before & after |
| Core skill | Triage & deployment | Trauma care & resilience |
| Output | Immediate relief | Long-term recovery |
Both wings operate in close coordination during major disaster events.
The following national NHAFN members operate under this Wing.
